I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

I've been playing both. I almost always have more fun with my electrics though, due to me being a metal head.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

I pretty much only play acoustic when I'm teaching or at the cottage. Electric is just soooo much more fun to me.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

I don't own an acoustic. Just electrics and a classical. I really don't like many 6 string acoustics. I prefer 12 strings, resonators, or certain Ovation 6 strings. Nothing else does it for me.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

I've been playing bass. I haven't touched my guitars in over a month.

PRS phase. Paul knows what he's doing for sure. Next to the LPCL it's probably my go to guitar.

Prior to this I was in the acoustic and mandolin phase. Need to complete the makeover on my dreadnaught though. Did a lot of work on the frets, just need to give it a
ew bone nut and saddle.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

There's nothing at all wrong with that.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

I've been playing acoustic a lot more than usual. I have a weekend retreat coming up in the middle of September and i'll be doing the Music for it. It's going to be an Acoustic Duo type of thing with a friend of mine.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

An odd middleground...lately I've been messing around with plugging my Ovation into the Tiny Terror with a decent amount of dirty on it. I really like the ensuing sound combination. Its awesomely ugly.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

I'm somewhere in the middle right now. The acoustic gets very little use normally, but I'm trying to nail a piece at the moment and that's the sound I need.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

I had an acoustic phase for a few months last year when I was learning about Goo Goo Dolls and Boyce Avenue... My electrics were collecting dust.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

If I've fired my electric rig up more than 5 times in the last year or two I'd be surprised. At some point I need to consider offloading some guitars and amps.

What I would like to do is get down to 1 amp and 3 electrics. I'd probably keep the 65 Amps Head/Cab and sell everything else off (6 or so guitars and a Marshall and Splawn head). Then get a nice Strat/Tele/Les Paul.

I'm usually where you are but I've been wanting to add a new dimension to my acoustic show so I've been running my Strat clean into the board via a Zoom floor box for a Blackface clean tone with a touch of reverb. It sounds surprisingly good. I've been working with just my fingers and doing some Jimmy Buffett tunes like "Boat Drinks" and "Pencil Thin Mustache". Also working up some of my own blues tunes and a solo version of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". I hope to bring the finger style back to the acoustic as soon as I get better at it and thicker skin on my picking fingers.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

I might play my acoustic once every month. If that.

Mainly because it sucks.

My brain is in an acoustic phase (Days of The New red album ftw) but my body is in a "YOU HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD, KEEP IT IN THE CASE" phase.

Re: I've not touched an electric gitfiddle in 2 mo...

I've been focusing on electric right now. I'm in the process of selling off more than half of my gear and I'm focused on getting down to a Fender Tele, Gibson ES-335 and a Fender Vibrolux Reverb and I'm liking the simplicity. Tele is giving the twang and the ES-335 has such a unique chirp and jazzy warmth to it. Playing clean has been a whole lot of fun lately. Once I sell off some pieces, I think I'm going to hunt down a Fender RI Tweed Deluxe and a Gibson J-45 and call it a day. I'm by far the happiest I've ever been lately with my tone.
