J mascis' tone

Hi everyone. I recently bought a Strat body (SSS) on ebay without pickups and have been doing tons of research on what pups to buy. My favorite positions, and really the only ones i ever use, are 2 and 5. (Neck/middle and full bridge). I like to use 2 for sparkly cleans and 5 for overdriven, grungey tones that utilize natural amp breakup (think Dino jr, Built to spill). I will occasionally be playing position 5 clean, though, and i really hate how muffled a lot of 'hot' bridge pups sound clean. My two favorite SD tones for bridge are the SVR-1 and the APS-1, but im not sure how well these will work for heavier stuff. Note clarity is very important to me since im mostly a rhythm player and like to hear each string when i strum a chord. Can anyone recommend a good bridge pickup (can be humbucker or single coil or anything as long as it fits into single coil route) for dirty stuff but that also doesnt sound like a blanket has been thrown over it when clean? Again, Im considering the SVR-1 and APS-1 but also was curious about the STK-4, antiquity, and some others but seymour duncan just doesnt have sound samples for them unfortunately. Incase i didnt mention, I'm less concerned with the exact nuances of tone in my bridge pup, I'm more concerned with if it can do clear, defined cleans as well as dirty stuff. Thanks so much guys, any help is seriously appreciated.

*NOTE* - I'm playing through a Vox AC15

welcome to the forum!

its true that most high output pups dont sound great for clean work. you could put put an aps1 in the bridge and get nice clean tones but dirty tones may be trickier. what amp are you using?
