Jackson 3way switch and EMG solderless

Hey all,

Wired my EMG 81/85 set up using an EMG wiring kit after a pot went bad on my Duncan wiring kit on my Jackson Dinky soloist.

Easy enough, however now I have to wire the Jackson 3 way switch, which isn't like Gibson and PRS toggle switches that I'm used to. This has a bunch of solder points on it.

Is there any how-to's on wiring the Jackson pickup selector switch to the EMG kit?

Import or USA? (BTW, as far as I know, there's no such thing as a Jackson Dinky soloist. It's a Dinky if it's bolt-on; it's a Soloist if it's neck-through.)

My bad, yeah it's a Dinky from Korea with a bolt on neck. I just say soloist since it has a soloist style body.

Ha! You'll never escape my nitpicking! The Dinky has a shaved-down 7/8-size body compared to a Soloist. Hence the "Dinky" part. : party:

Seriously, though. My Dinky Reverse and my SL3 have knife switches like a Strat, so they won't really help. I checked my USA Soloist, which is H-H and has a three-way toggle, but the switch looks just like a regular Les Paul switch on the inside.

Could you post a pic or two of your switch?

I'm open to using a different switch if you can recommend one.

Hell, even that solderless EMG blade switch is looking rather nice right now.

Electrically, that switch is identical to a Fender-style 5-way. Just the terminals are in a different order.

With an 85, an 81, and no funny business, you'd want a 3-way lever switch. That Warmoth switch is a good option. I've used those before and they work well. They also don't run your signal through extra PCB traces, which can't hurt.

If you want to use the solderless connections, the EMG switch is the only way to go.

If you use a five-way lever, you can make it work, but you'll have two redundant positions that either do nothing or do things that other positions already do.
