Jackson DK1 or ESP M 11

Hails. Looking for input on these two. If you were to choose , which one would it be and why? Thanks for your input. Oh yeah the ESP would be the standard with duncans and rose wood. The Jackson comes with the EMG's and rosewood. I thought these two would be close but after looking at harmony central. the ESP got slammed pretty bad.

Harmony Central... don't take anything on there seriously.

If it were one of the older, HSS, 22 fretted DK-1's, I'd say that. But if we're strictly talking newer ones, I'd get the ESP.

You can probably get a used ESP from the mid nineties for about 500 bucks.

With those though...I'd try 'em both out, I've never played either one but the ESP MV owns ass.

Re: Jackson DK1 or ESP M 11

You aren't talking about new ones, are you? The new ESPs come with either maple or rosewood freboards and the Jacksons have ebony.

They are pretty close to each other. IIRC the ESP has a slightly thicker neck and body. I recently bought an M-II myself with the maple fretboard, it's really good, but I don't have any experience in the Jackson to compare. I don't really think that you can go wrong with either one, just get the best deal available IMO.

OOPS your right Davey that would be ebony. OBTW I am talking new here if that makes a difference. Has either companys QA gotten better (I Doubt) or worse? The ESP goes for around $1200. compared to the DK1 at $1600. The ESP does come with a maple fret board, but I am partial to rosewood considering the JB bridge.

i'd get a dk1 .. but that's just me.
the dinky also has an oiled neck.

I'd definitely get the maple board instead of the rosewood one, and not care about the pickups in at the moment at all. If the prices are what you say, I wouldn't pay 1/3 extra for the Jackson. I'd also be afraid that the Jackson neck could be painfully skinny, but that's me again. That all isn't to say I wouldn't get a DK1 one day, just from your options, that is. Who knows if I might even prefer it in the end. But now, I'd go for the ESP.

Re: Jackson DK1 or ESP M 11

If the jb is what´s keeping you away from the maple board, just replace it with something warmer.
But of course i just say that because i prefer maple myself, go for the rosewood if you prefer it anyway :)
