IMHO, they are on par with each other. So it really boils down to which tone wood you prefer for the body, the Alder of the Jackson, or the Basswood of the Ibanez, which neck feels better in your hands, and which control layout you like better.

I'm not sure why Jackson is calling the newer models DK2M if they have the option of rosewood fretboards. I thought the *M* stood for Maple.

The Pro series is now made in Mexico instead of Japan. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Jackson all day every day. Those necks play like mmmmmbutter.

Which one does have better quality wood and workmanship and which one is better looking for you?

For better workmanship there is no question. The RG is part of the Prestige series meaning its MIJ and it has fantastic materials and quality control, its definitely a step above the Jackson.

Honestly I don't think they should even be compared, they're not even in the same price range. The Dinky is MIM and is in the same price range as the Ibanez Premium models and the Charvel Pro mods. Great guitars, only they're not made with the same care and attention as the Ibanez Prestige.

The rest of the line except the white and red quilt have the maple boards, don't know why they were left off those two.

And I voted Jackson based on personal preference, IMO Jackson guitar play more comfortably and generally feel more solidly built than Ibanez guitars across the price ranges.

Re: Jackson DK2M vs. Ibanez RG2550

Oh...Jacksons are relics of the 90s man. Ibanez all the way, especially the 2-series Prestige, which is a high end Prestige. The difference with the 3 series are the pickups.
