Jackson Randy Rhodes 3

Re: Jackson Randy Rhodes 3

try a Custom bridge with a DD neck

I had that in my Jackson and everyone liked it

I wanted more crushing bass... so I put an Invader in it

now I'm happy

Re: Jackson Randy Rhodes 3

If your a deathmetaller, and you want pickups that can handle distortion good, Why not try EMG 81 ? Its a very good pickup and you shouldn't be disapointed.

I run 81 and 85 in my drop C Randy Rhodes after disapointing results with a SD Distortion. A Must for metal !

Re: Jackson Randy Rhodes 3

ya i was thinking about getting a passive EMG but i still think ill stick with a sh2 for a neck pickup

Re: Jackson Randy Rhodes 3

Idk my only problem with EMG is they sound to processed, i mean passives are deffinitly alot let processed sounding then their active counter part, but i always picture some industrial metal head who uses emgs and run his guitar through a few rack processors into a solid state amp lmao. idk i like the raw sound of SD's and gibson pick ups.

Re: Jackson Randy Rhodes 3

I recently picked up a RR3 that has the Duncan Designed pups in it. When compared to my Peavey Patriot that I put a TB4 and PG1 in, the DD pups are weak. I decided to get a JB for the bridge and a Jazz for the neck, but I am waiting on the pickup rings (changing to chrome) to assemble it.

The neck on the RR3 is quite different from what I am used to, and the first few days of playing felt like I was wrestling the guitar to get control of it. I have always been a short neck guy, but now that I have played a long neck for a month I have to admit that I like the additional room on the fretboard. Not only that, but playing my Peavey is faster than ever, so I would guess that the workput on the Jackson has helped! Since I am changing out the pups, I also decided to replace the Licensed Floyd with a real Floyd Rose Pro. I got some great help from JT at Floyd Rose in making the change, and I think it will be worth it.

I could have put it all together last week, but the guy who I got the pickup rings from (on eBay) decided to wait two weeks after I paid to ship them. He has 100% + feedback, and the buyer comments all say 'Fast shipping!' and 'Excellent seller!', but I have a feeling my upcoming neutral feedback is not going to be welcome. I can care less if he retaliates as my feedback over 400 positives, and as a buyer, that speaks for itself...

Re: Jackson Randy Rhodes 3

I used to have an RR3, I had a Distortion/Jazz in it. That was a long time ago, but I tell ya I always got compliments on it. And those looks too, yeah you know the one. :)
