I was looking at my Jackson and I was wondering if the wings were made of ash? The grain sort of looks like it to me but, I am not sure. On SL-4s, what types of woods were used?

If you dont want a floating trem, just block it from moving backward. That is one of the first things I did to this guitar. I lOVE the neck also!!!!CaptainCrunch said:I also have a question for Zerb or anyone who knows about the SL-4, I've been looking for the specs on the neck and can't find them. My son has one and I love that neck. I am almost despising the neck on my Ultra Strat now, and want to find something very similar (in radius, fret size, thickness) to the SL-4 neck but don't want a floating trem. Any suggestions are welcome. Sorry Theodie, didn't mean to hijack your thread. (I'm really being tempted by your DS-1 as well :laugh2: )
Should be alder. Doesn´t really look strong enough for ash to me, but photos can be deceiving. And Every so often the Japs let an oddball out with slightly differing specs just for kicks (as well as any dealer being able to order limited runs of 12 guitars with a few extra options including woods, which actually accounts for a good portion of those oddballstheodie said:I was looking at my Jackson and I was wondering if the wings were made of ash? Zerberus said:All soloists and Rhoads have (theoretically) the exact same Neck profile. TO cure your problem I´d recommend a USA SLATQH or SLS, or for players on a budget the SLSMG (and better pickups)
For exacter specs on the Profile, www.jacksonguitars.com, click on Gear -> Usa Select> (Insert any of the soloist models here). Frets are Super-Jumbo on Soloists, Tall and thin on Rhoads.
Thanks Zerb, I didnt even know one could do that. That makes life alot easier.Zerberus said:Or, just take a look at his profile![]()
