Jackson SLATXMG3-6 Soloist? maybe for NGD..

Hi all,

I have been offered what I think is a good deal on a slightly used Jackson SLATXMG3-6 guitar and would like to ask if anyone has any experience with this model. My searches have pulled a few contradictory reviews, even between the Jackson site and other vendors as to the wood used. Some say basswood and few mahogany. It has EMG81/85 pups and a FR special I believe.
Any input is greatly appreciated!

Well i would believe what the jackson site says over any of the vendors... And the jackson site says mahogany. For years, as far as i know, all of the SLS and 3x3 headstocked soloists were mahogany.

Thanks for the reply!

The SLS3 is mahogany, my SLS Custom is mahogany, my old '97 USA SLS was mahogany, and I'm pretty sure the SLSMG was mahogany. The biggest difference I think was that some had maple necks (like my Custom and IIRC the SLSMG). I could be wrong, however.

Jackson's site isn't always accurate with the specs, though.

Thanks! I know a number of guitars are made of basswood but I have no experience with it. It seems nice so far (haven't played it yet) It's going to be this or maybe a Kramer striker custom to play around with.

Well, I pulled the trigger on the Jackson. Thanks for the feedback.

Good choice! Esp over a Kramer striker. Strikers are ply guitars. If you ever consider an import Kramer, go with the Focus series. The Focus' are great guitars. Looking forward to your review of the Jackson!

Just as a follow up, I contacted Jackson and was told that my guitar is indeed a mahogany body.
