Hi,

what's the verdict on these guitars? are they worth the high price tag?

I have my eye on a KV2...DCGL sells them for $1799 in solid black w/ hardshell case.

how's the fretwork?

thanks!

it's been a long time since i've seen a high quality Jackson in this area... hardly anyone carries Jackson/Charvel around here....

But i am a huge Jackson fan and they make amazing stuff.....

Verdict is "Excellent", if a pointy is your thing.

Yes, they are worth the high price tag, a good dealer will always be a couple hundred less than the prices you see posted (always worth a phone call, vs. clicking a button)

The fret work doesn't get any better, with the exception of a US Parker (but that is a different animal).

Actually, I don't think you can get better quality than US Jackson. You can get different styles of guitar, more expensive, custom guitars, etc. but the quality only gets so good - Jackson is there. I have seen a few Jacksons need a little adjustment to pup height from the factory, but otherwise you could tune up right off the rack and take it to the stage.

I own a few Jacksons and have owned many others in the past and agree with Binnerscot: if they're your thing it's tough to go wrong with the USA made versions.

It's also worth pointing out that you can usually score them in the used market relatively cheaply.

Everybody "sells them" for 1999, that´s the minimum advertised price. Printing any lower number (aka the actual sale price) on their website would be a violation of Jackson´s pricing policy and cause them to lose their dealership. Which makes me curious as to How DCGL can do this without violating the policy....

call up Matt @ www.mattsmusic.com and save a few hundred bucks, he´ll generally beat any deal ;)

USA Jacksons are really awesome. I had a SL2H for a while and it was one of the best guitars I've ever owned. The build quality is really high. I sold it because I wanted something different tonally and wound up buying a USA Charvel. I gave up two frets and a recessed tremolo but it was well worth it. I love my Charvel more than any guitar I have ever owned.
