Jackson vs. ESP

Ok guys, here's where the real fight is. :blackeye:

So we all know/say that Jackson has the reputation for being great metal/shred axes right. But what about ESP? ESP has been building their own reputation for making quality guitars that RIVAL (god forbid :22: ) Jackson's quality and playability. So in terms of playability and feel, that is how well you think you can shred, bust out a solo, chord with precision, and play one handed runs without even picking a string, and taking the necks into account, Which manufacturer makes the better guitar? Electronics don't matter because those can just be changed out and such.

Keep in mind that Jackson uses Jumbo frets and ESP uses Xtra Jumbo!

jackson jackson jackson jackson. Really I have never played a better made guitar than my soloist. Whenever I have played an esp I've always thought they were overpriced for how they sounded and felt to me. Jackson on the other hand I would gladly pay 1500+ for another soloist. In fact my next guitar will be and SL2h soloist with the ghost flames!!!!

I have to go with the tried and true classic Jackson. The original sin. The first randy rhoads signature model guitar has everything I could use in a guitar.
22 jumbo frets, neck thru body, shark fin inlays, vintage tremelo bridge :13:

I think either have nice high end models. It just depends what your looking for.

I've played some nice ESPs for sure. The high end stuff is quite good.

But in my experience Jackson is the clear winner for high end and low end gear. ESP may have the edge in mid-priced offerings.

jackson .. aint going to say anything else cos zerb is gonna chime in at one point and if he isnt sick of posting the same thing over and over again, he'll tell you why.

i dont dislike ESP as much as he does, but i'm still stickin with the jacky's

I voted for ESP's because that what I've got. For the $$$ I think they're great guitars. Honestly, I haven't played any Jacksons.

Whats the difference? What makes Jacksons so much better? I thought ESP's were made by the same guy who orginally made Jacksons?

i havent and i doubt i'll do that anytime soon. same with the jacksons.

but i'm judging on my experience. the jacksons i played vs the ESP's i played and all the jacksons have felt better

And on topic, i have played some extremely nice high end jacksons, and some ESPs but i personally much prefer the feel of a jackson

Generally USA Jacksons are far more detailed and playable than signature hi-priced Esp's. Not that esp's aren't good. I own a Jackson Warrior WR1 and a Dave M. signature Esp. They are allmost at the same price range but the Warrior is faster and easier to play. The tone is a little better too.

I'd loved to have a Jaockson SL2H and an ESP Horizon Custom.

When it comes to the ESP Japan and Jackson USA guitars, it's just a matter of preferences. Build quality of both are excellent. It's just which one you like the neck feel of and the options that are on it.
But, as for quality, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

As for the current mid priced import line of both. I like ESP. Like the LTD M1000 over the Jackson SL3. I also like the fact the M1000 has an OFR.

To me Jacksons import heyday was the mid to late 80's Charvels, and early 90's Jackson Pros. Some of the early 90's Charvels like the 650xl and 750xl were very nice also.
I had two of the Jackson Pro guitars.
The Dinky Standard. You know, the all white one. White body, white pickguard, white pickups, white matching headstock, white dot inlays. I believe there was an all red and all blue version as well.
The Jackson Warrior XL.
Both were very well built guitars. The Warrior hung funny on me when playing standing up though. Couldn't get used to it. I guess I just prefer super strats.
I sold both to get a Parker Fly Deluxe.

OH, and one more thing.
In the end, I prefer my Carvins over all.

I voted ESP. However, both have original and knockoff designs, both are great players, the prices are fairly comparable, and both look cool. The reason I went with ESP is strictly because of the more affordable instruments. More specifically, the sub $400 stuff. The cheap Jacksons don't compare. I honestly think that the stuff a company puts out as it's "introductory" line speaks volumes about it.

I voted Jackson!! I have had a little experience with ESP and I thought they were ok but, I think with Jackson, its a lot better quality. BTW, The ESP was one of those way over priced George Lynch models. The Jackson's, SL-2H and my Japanese SL-4.

Not that I think ESP's are bad, they are great guitars. I just think Jackson is one of the best mass produced guitars.

I'm a hardtail lover and a tradtionalist for the most when it comes to my guitars. I've been really digging the Esp Vipers. As soon as Jackson comes out with an SG copy, I'll dig on them for a bit!
