Mercy Mercy Mercy was written by Joe Zawinul. He wrote it while he was with Canonball Adderley and as I recall it made the pop charts in the day.

Joe Zawinul was of course the keyboard player and, lets face it, the leader of the best electric band ever: Weather Report. Their finest time was when Jaco was playing bass with them.

Joe Zawinul now fronts his own band, The Zawinul Syndicate, one of baddest outfits playing today.
