Hey everyone. Thanks for your input on probably my 2nd to last assembly ever ( my final one will be some kind of Magnum Opus, and it'll be quite a long way down the road.
I decided to Nix the Over The Top Jag theme, and all the gold and green. I'm not a leprechaun, and I don't like the fighting Irish (College football/ Uni handegg team).
What I'm left with is just a regular guitar, but I kept the sticky tape- on Jag emblem just for kicks.
Heres a brief Rundown in case you missed it on the trial run thread.;
Squire Std. Affinity Lmtd. Edition British Racing Green body. Bow Howdy, Fender, if you are listening, if you were to make a Bristish racing Green American Std., I think the world would beat a path to your door!
Now, the Std Affinity Squire has MIM sized Hardware, and thats the great news! I was able to fit a MIM GFS Brass block . I had my doubts about this block, and not sure if its 100% quality Bell grade brass, but it seems like a very good product. At some point I will buy some Callaham steel saddles, and bridgeplate for this axe.
I don't know how many pieces of wood this is, but its supposed to be Alder. It does look like Alder. The neck is a mighty Mite Birdseye maple that I leveled and crowned the frets on. Plays like buttah!
The pickups are a Zhang 11.2K bridge , Duncan SSL-3 Middle, and Duncan ANT. Surfer Hot around 10K neck. Didn't think the 10K neck would work , but it does, and in a really great way, at l;east clean with the little practice amp!
I was under the impression a Antiquity for a budget body guitar would be overkill. Boy was I ever DEAD wrong.Great Great pickup. has me questioning all my other expensive sets I've bought.
Love the Overwound Strat set a lot more than the underwound set I have on my 70's Strat.
Review;
This guitar is such a joy to play, and it sounds delightful. Once upon a time I was a tone snob who would poo-poo anything that didn't have a pedigree.
While, yes, I surely wouldn't classify this jag-caster in the same league as an expensive Start, and I have a few, it just sound s and plays right!
I'm very pleased with this.
Questions, comments, insults, threats invited and appreciated!
