"Jam Band" Style

i just purchased an Ibanez AWD82T (real great guitar). Pickups sound great, but I know aftermarket pickups would make it sound that much better. I'm into the whole jam band thing (moe or phish) for style and sound. Any recommendations?

Yonah, what's the pickup configuration on that guitar? I think for that type of music, vintagey pickups will probably fit the bill.

Hey yonahboy. Welcome to the board.

In moe., Chuck plays Duckbuckers and a Twangbanger in his Strat. So that wouldn't apply to your Ibanez AWD82T. Al plays a lot of mini-humbuckers and P-90s, but we've sent him '59s. (BTW, click here to read about Al's Ibanez Jet King). FWIW, I saw those guys on New Years Day in Las Vegas. Wow!

For a Trey tone, I think '59s are the call.

So, my recommendation is the same as yours: a pair of '59s.

I hope that helps.

The guitar is available through Ibanez. They were showing it at NAMM. And when I saw them on NYD, that's the guitar he played the entire show.
