Jazz bridge does straight death metal

Hey guys- I got really tired of reading today so I whipped out a quick song writing demo. You will have to excuse the poorly programmed drums but I'd appreciate opinions/comments! Also, if any of you have ideas on how to make it shorter that'd be helpful criticism I think.

It's called body of the condemned. Schecter>podxt>saffire pro.
Everything was done with the jazz bridge except the clean which is the jazz neck.

NICE! What's the rest of your rig? The lead's a bit low in the mix...is that the Jazz on the rhythm?

Re: Jazz bridge does straight death metal

Rest of my rig... macbook, event asp8's (which I didn't get to use cuz of the time), neundo 2, ezdrummer, and a couple waves plugs. Interesting that the leads are low on your end- is too high in the mix over here. Yes, thats the jazz on rhythm. When I have time I will add some bass, do vox, and give it a proper mix.

i love your chops man! very nice. i wish there was a better way to demo pickups besides having to buy them, there could be many pups with hidden abilities such as the jazz (the name throws me off)

Thanks man! Means a lot. Yeah I agreee about demoing pups- the jazz is the clearest passive pup I've ever tried and I wouldn't have even thought to give it a shot if not for Jolly and Gearjoneser constantly praising it.

Re: Jazz bridge does straight death metal

Lead sounds good here, not too low.

****, it sounds really clear and tight, awesome technique, the riffage kills!

Re: Jazz bridge does straight death metal

Thanks man! haha I think thats the first time I've ever been complimented on technique! You've got killer chops yourself, so thats a huge ego boost. Much appreciated.

I wonder if there's something wrong with my **** speakers!!!!!! :bsflag:

Anyway, you've got me wanting to try out a Jazz Bridge, and more importantly, to woodshed:D

Re: Jazz bridge does straight death metal

cool tune man! interesting riffs indeed, and great lead style.

ideas to shorten:

* only play the first riff like twice - will make it more of an intro
* shorten the riff between solo #1 and solo #2 to only like one or two times, it's just a bridge
* pair down the song to like 3-4 main riffs; it seems like there's a lot of different riffs going on, some of which that might be filler (unless you love them all, then keep 'em all).

Re: Jazz bridge does straight death metal

Something a little different about the way those low notes sound, I really liked the tone and playing overall. Good riffage.

EDIT: It's almost like the rhythm guitar has some compression or 'sag', but not too much that it stops the riffs from being tight. Cool!

Cheers guys! I wrote lyrics and started doing vocals the other day and actually, with vocals I'm not so sure that it's actually too long. I will post an updated version in a couple weeks when I have some time to actually finish it up and see if you agree.

Yeah- there is something about this pup that is just working for me. It is fast becoming my favorite pickup because it sounds good doing just about whatever I want it to.

Re: Jazz bridge does straight death metal

Good stuff, I like the sustained chords that come in around :40 or so, and the lead tone is very nice and smooth. It's got a nice presence to it with well-voiced mids.

Re: Jazz bridge does straight death metal

That sounds awsome dude. I play a Jazzb for metal as well. I was wondering what you would suggest for recording at home for comp software to start, cause I lay some decent **** down, but can never record it, or make a song cause I can't find a band. thanks.

Re: Jazz bridge does straight death metal

Dude i've listened to your song a couple times over and its really good. Instrumental Metal Rules. That the main reason I listen to metal. The instrumental part of it.

Well, I started in adobe audition and it was easiest to learn but honestly the lack of midi functionality make it fairly crap for solid home-recording use. Cubase is usually a good bet since the midi is great and it works great with vst's. It's also fairly simple to learn. I am upgrading to logic soon for the plugs but I think cubase is great to start with since you won't outgrow it. I use it with ezdrummer because it's got nice midi sequences and I HATE programming drums.

You will also need either a good soundcard(specifically for recording), a firewire interface(like a firepod or saffire) or something along the lines of a podxt or toneport which can act as both soundcard and modeller via usb.

Cheers for the comments on the music bro!
