Jazz Neck that measures 7.03K ??

I have a Duncan Jazz neck that measures 7.03K ohms. The published spec on that pup is 7.72K. Anyone else found a stock Duncan that far off spec?

My DVDM is fine. It measures other Duncans within a few % of spec. And the Jazz sounds great in a Les Paul where I just installed it. From the sound I'd say it's definitely a Jazz, not a different model that's mislabeled.

Are you measuring it while it's soldered in the guitar circuit, and in a semi-chilly room? That would lop off about 0.4k...

don't worry man, it's really not that far off of spec. things like climate and such can mess with the reading.

Not worried, just curious; it sounds great in the Les Paul and it's not coming out.

FWIW, I measured it out of the guitar, multiple times in two different rooms on two different VTVMs. I mark all of my pickups and it was marked 7.03K, probably from some measurements I did a year or two ago. This time it measured between 7.00 and 7.03 every time I checked it. I have probably 100+ Duncan humbuckers and never had one measure below 7.28K. Just surprising that a Jazz would measure so low. Even more surprising is that its output is balancing perfectly with the guitar's bridge pup, a BB3 that reads 9.04K.

I have another Jazz neck that I was testing at the same time and it read around 7.65K. For fun I put it in the guitar's bridge so I was running a pair of Jazz neck pups - not somethinig you'd ever think of. The 7.65K actually sounded pretty good in the bridge. I'm currently looking for a proper Jazz bridge pup to put in the guitar. (Hint, hint.)

The reading's affected by temperature. The same '59n measures 7.22K in winter and 7.90K in summer. The real reading is measured at 20 degrees Celsius. (68 Farenheit?)

This has happened to me before. The output of my hot rails varies from time to time.
