Jazz single coil ?

Well as announced in the title, I'm looking for a single-coil sized pickup that has the same clean sounds than our dearly beloved Jazz humbucker.

Doesn't need to be a true single-coil, only SC sized. Doesn't even need to be a Duncan, only passive.

Which pickup would come closest to the Jazz ?

Re: Jazz single coil ?

Checked the samples from the website, didn't sound very similar but I like the sound :p

Any other suggestions or should I just check out every sample on the website ^^ ?

Re: Jazz single coil ?

Cool rails have an AWFUL clean sound, I wouldn't reccomend them in place of a Jazz ever

The 50's style strat pickups are probably the closest I've tried. They're obviously more single-coil ish, but they have that same scoop and chime

Don't know what conditions you tried them under, but they seemed pretty nice to me. Not like a true single by any means, but still nice.

Re: Jazz single coil ?

I say Telecaster neck pickup. They are jazz to the maxx.

You could put one in a Strat rout.

Re: Jazz single coil ?

Cool Rails is the choice. I asked someone at SD this same question a few months back.

They also said that a CR bridge or neck could be used in neck for different outputs.

Re: Jazz single coil ?

You say Cool Rails. But since the bridge pickup will be a humbucker and, what's more, most certainly a distortion type pickup, wouldn't a Hot Rails fit better in terms of output ? But then, no idea if the Hot Rails has nice cleans.

If it doesn't sound REALLY like the Jazz it's not much of a problem. It's just my fav clean humbucker so far, that's why I take it as a reference. I'm always up to try some new stuff.

I agree, i use my tele for jazz. Although, to make it more jazzy, i put a push/pull pot to switch between parallel and series, series sounds more jazzy
