In a mahogany neck and body guitar, 22 frets. There will be a coil split present too. I'm torn between the two.

Well the aph-1 has a thicker sound that I really like, lots of mids, quite a bit darker than the Jazz. Very warm with a sweet-bell like top.

Jazz has a lot of clarity, is brighter, retains its warmth, less of a midrangy presence with more emphasis on the highs.

I've actually heard that a Jazz Alnico 2 is close to the aph-1 if that helps.

Of course, for a JB bridge, I'd have to say Jazz though.

man it's a tough call, they are both so awesome.

Re: Jazz vs. Alnico II Pro neck to match with JB bridge

i had a AP2 neck and JB bridge in my moore...butter and bite...what more do you want!!! basically the same material as the axe you are using too!

i'm putting a 59n and Custom Custom bridge in my telegib project...i'll give a full report on it when it's done

In a full mahogany guitar especially i recon the Jazz , if you want kick on bass , clarity for the mids and enough highs .
With alnico2 the bass will be flabby , mids will be thick and high will be soft and mellow .

I voted for the A2P, I'm not real big on the Jazz I have in the neck of my Schecter right now. It's got a mahogany body and set mahogany neck. I'll be trying a PGn tonight.

the APH2...definately. The Jazz isn't very jazzy- too harsh for the neck. I have the APH2/JB in the guitar to the left..it rocks.

Aph2 is a great pup for the neck i have one in a mahogany neck and body guitar and use as my main guitar. Ull get a nice round smooth tone with clarity in the neck that will sound great and then you can always switch to the JB for bite and cut through for leads.

Definitely Alnico II. Fuller sound, better mid and high definition. I use mine wih a JB in the bridge and the range of tones is terrific.

I recently compared the APS-1 (staggered) with the APS-2 (flat) on my strat in the neck position. I definitely preferred the staggered APS-1. Open chords sounded fuller, better defined, and more balanced.

how's the crunch of the APH1?
I love the jazz for overdriven sweeps & soloing but I intend to put a APH1 in the neck of my ESP in combination with a CC

The JB/Jazz combo works with players from Seymour Duncan up to Dave Mustaine. It's a classic for sure.
