JazzB vs '59 vs Screamin Demon vs PATB1n for neck

As the title asks...
I'm in search of a neck pickup that is well suited to alder bodied guitars with bolt-on, ebony fretboarded guitars.
I need it mainly for playing clean passages (fingerpicked and strummed) and for the occasional overdriven solo.
Naturally, if anyone has any other suggestions, I would be delighted to hear them.

Thanks!

Hmmm...sounds like a brighter guitar. I might suggest a weaker magnet (alnico 2)...for a warmer sound. Look into the alnico 2 pro. Great cleans, but plenty warm for your brightish axe.

What's going in the bridge, and how much clean headroom do you have to work with?

I was originally thinking about putting a pickup with an A2 in the neck but wasn't sure how it would sound for overdriven leads. However, I'm still rather curious.

I am either putting a PATB1-b or Alternative 8 in the bridge.

The other big issue is that its going to be a custom shop project since its going into a 7 string ;P . Therefore, I need to be fairly sure about what I'm getting.
I should also mention that I enjoy the sweet, sparkly cleans of single-coils but don't like much twang in my sound (at least for this guitar project lol!). Smooth, articulate and warm! Thanks!

Smooth, articulate and warm, without twang, and for a 7 string? I'll venture to say a PATB design, with MJ or Seymour specifying the wind so it doesn't get muddy on your B string.

I was kind of leaning towards either a JazzB-7 with Parallel Axis polepieces. Either that, or the PATB1N-7.

I forgot to answer your original question Benjy 26! lol
I have a fair bit of clean headroom since I LOVE a huge, "blown wide open" sounding clean. Naturally, I generally like to add some reverb and a little rotary speaker sound to it as well.

Thank you very much for your info so far!
