Jazzmaster Antiquity - buy separately or a 'set'?

Hi, I'm new to the forum (only signed up to ask this question really). Hopefully you guys can help me out!

I have a J Mascis Squier Jazzmaster and want to swap the stock pups with SD Antiquity Is. I can either buy the bridge and neck separately or as a 'set'. Postage makes it slightly cheaper to buy them separately so I'm wondering: what's the difference? What constitutes a 'set' exactly? Are they matched somehow?

Thanks!

Also, are pickup covers included with Antiquity pickups? (Probably a stupid question, I know.)

Welcome to the forum.

My experience is with Antiquity pickups for Jaguar. I bought separates. I wanted the A2 magnet Ant 1 neck pickup and A5 magnet Ant II for the bridge. My pickups were supplied with neither covers nor screening "claws".

i have a jazzmaster antiquity II set. They don't come with covers.

Re: Jazzmaster Antiquity - buy separately or a 'set'?

Thanks guys, but are they matched y'know electrically, in terms of output or whatever? (i'm definitely not an expert!)

And where could I get covers for them? I live in Spain but am from the UK and could buy from there (or even US I suppose).

Check the product descriptions in the main SD website. Pickups/Antiquity/Specialised

You can order in the UK from an authorised dealer. There could be a wait. Alternatively, you might find somebody selling some on eBay.

The set is one bridge and one neck (i'd assume). IIRC, they are wound in different directions to be hum cancelling in the middle position. Output doesn't vary that much.

I bought a set of '59s as a pair. They were marketed as being matched in terms of output. I defy anyone to tell the difference between that set and a set that was bought seperately.

On the vintage recreation pickups such as these, DC resistance and Inductance figures will be the same for both bridge and neck position pickups, as will the polepiece spacing.

Re: Jazzmaster Antiquity - buy separately or a 'set'?

Purchase a matched set directly form the SD custom shop.

Tell them what you are looking for - the SD custom shop will produce it!

It might cost a little more money or if what you are asking for is already in production, they will match your request using current production items.

Re: Jazzmaster Antiquity - buy separately or a 'set'?

So I bought the Antiquity I set. I'm not expecting any covers with them though.

Where can can I get some covers for them that will fit perfectly? I can't find anything on the SD site which is pretty ridiculous!

Thanks in advance!
