Jazzmaster neck pickup suggestions

Got a fender jazzmaster HS I'm looking to replace the neck pickup in. It's too bright when I have the volume all the way up. I know turning it down helps with that but dont want to effect the output of my bridge humbucker since it's really high output (seems counterintuitive).
Anyway, how do the duncan Jazzmaster Pickups compare with one another?
I just need something that doesnt sound so shrill when used with the volume knob all the way up.
Thanks everyone!

Re: Jazzmaster neck pickup suggestions

What size volume pot do you have?
The Quarter Pound Jazzmaster (providing you have a traditional Jazzmaster single in the neck) is probably your best bet here. It is darker than stock but also more power. The Hot Jazzmaster is warmer still, but also more power.

The volume pots are 500k. My Jazzmaster isnt the typical traditional style since it has a humbucker in the bridge and a regular Jazzmaster single in the neck (the big brick looking pickup). Thanks for your suggestion. I guess my main concern is having the power be there in the neck pickup but not the shrill cut your head off top end and retain a real good punch. I heard the Antiquity 1 has the same kind of warmth as the two mentioned?

Re: Jazzmaster neck pickup suggestions

I would suggest adding a tone pot rather than a pickup swap. Any pickup that is significantly warmer will also be higher in output. Besides, a separate tone pot for each pickup is far superior wiring anyhow IMO.

Alternately, without adding a pot, you could remove the bridge pickup from being affected by the tone control.

I have the antiquity jazzmaster set and I couldn't be happier or want anything different with the sound of them. Classic jazzmaster tones. Another SD masterpiece.

I'd say not so much. The Antiquity I is certainly brighter and janglier than the QP or the Hot version.

Thanks again everyone. So it's definitely a toss up between the Quarter Pound Jazzmaster or the Hot Jazzmaster. But which one has higher output and punch?

Re: Jazzmaster neck pickup suggestions

To me, the Quarter Pound does, but it is also the one that sounds the least like a vintage Jazzmaster...but that might not matter to you.
