JB (bridge) + SH-2n Neck... Can't decide!!!

Right I need help. I;ve read all the recent threads on this combo and am worried that it wont pack enough bass for CHUGA CHUGA metal riffs. I have a Hamer Slammer Series that came with pups that just have "Duncan Designed" printen on them. I am kinda worried I will be simply replacing the pickups with the same thing! What if i already have this combo installed?!

Although i suspect they are cheaper imitations of that combo. I paid about 470 US dollars for the guitar about 6-7 years ago, bough in europe so the dollar price is an approximation. Its a les paul style guitar with a set bridge. Kinda entry level guitar...

I just want to make sure my tone is beefy enough, I play a lot of doom metal and like a bit of stoner rock and noisecore... so i want a full fat sound that can also chug nicely.

I was thinking an alternate combo might be to go with the SH-6 Distortion (B) and a Sh-2n jazz in the neck...

Help Please, since i can't really try these combos out anywhere, i also found it hard to tell from the sound samples as i'd like to hear the pups really driven playing metal, not just dirty!!!

The Jazz/JB combo will blow your other pickups right off of the planet. You will not be getting the same thing: HONEST!

Cheers Lew,

It's really hard making a decision when its going to be my sound for some time to come. Do you reckon the Jb/Jazz combo would cut it for full on metal/doom purposes. Or would I perhaps be better with a distortion and a jazz?

I'm always a little scared that the SH6-dist may have too much high end, trebble. If you catch my drift...

Oh yeh, if anyone needs an idea of the music i do, although this is just one style i like to play, go have a listen to some mp3's from my new demo...

Hey man, I just downloaded the full song off your site and I like it!
As for the pickups I'm not shure, there are other more knowlegable people on this site who can definately help you out. They'll chime in sooner or later.
I have a JB and it can get pretty heavy depending on the rig and settings, it's pretty much an all rounder. But I think you'll like some more vintage crunch in a pickup for your style of music.

Re: JB (bridge) + SH-2n Neck... Can't decide!!!

Well if you tried the JB and didn't like it, a ceramic magnet would get you close to a Distortion.

Re: JB (bridge) + SH-2n Neck... Can't decide!!!

Well, its kinda a toss up between the JB or the Distortion in the Brige now, with a Sh-2n jazz in the neck... so any more help would be appreciated. Having read the JB reviews thread seems most think it is good enough for full on metal goodness. I'd love to hear from metal axemen that have this combo, does it cut it? Or would the distortion be fatter, or just trebble everything out?

Nightburst, glad you like out stuff, plese also check out the new songs, which feature a live drummer and are in my opinion a lot better! Get in touch if you want to order a demo!
