JB...convince me further

ive been thinking about getting a JB in the bridge of my next guitar (gibson explorer or v....ill decide by the end of the week), and i was wondering if itd be good for the classic priest tone, like british steel/point of entry era. it should be good for the higher gain stuff i like to play (Metallica, megadeth) from what ive heard, but i was wondering how it would do with the not as distorted stuff like priest and old maiden. i love the DD and kinda wanna put another in the new guitar, but i want to see what everybodys raving about with the JB

Re: JB...convince me further

The JB is a great all around pickup in my opinion. I will cover all those styles that you describe.

Re: JB...convince me further

I tried a Custom and a Distortion in my ESP and kept going back to the JB, it doesn't get any better than that. I only like the distortion in like a floyd equipped guitar.

Re: JB...convince me further

How well can it handle progressive rock (Incubus, Chevelle, 311, etc). I know Mike from Incubus used JB/Jazz or JB/59 sets in he PRS guitars, so I figure it can do it well...

I think Mahoney from 311 also uses the JB in some of his guitars, though, I may be mistaken.

True story, I knew that... looks like I could have answered my own question :).

dont say that! i wont want it anymore. haha :D

Re: JB...convince me further

Dude! Definitely, for what you're describing (bands) ... you DO need the JB :D

Re: JB...convince me further

the JB is really hot! For your style, I would really take it. It screams and at the same time has a very definit tone! It's not just the being loud that makes the JB. It really is the "being hot" in any matter that makes it. I love it!
