JB, Custom or Distortion for an Ibanez rg 1527?

Re: JB, Custom or Distortion for an Ibanez rg 1527?

I use the PGn with my Custom. I've never heard a better neck humbucker than the PGn. But I'm a blues player...

PGn doesn't come in 7 string.
I haven't played the '59-7 but the jazz-7 is really nice.
I am going to pair the jazz-7 with my X2N7 on my RG7321.

I agree the custom is a great pickup, but it does have significantly lower output than the distortion and , still very noticeably lower output than the JB.

as the choice for the rga was easy (jb/59) and i have use it on a bunch of guitars i know it will suit my needs... but about the 7 string i only know i will pick the 59 7 for neck... which bridge pup would you recommend me out of this 3?

i know that most people would recommend a dimarzio set instead, but i prefer to try first a duncan choice and, if not happy, a dimarzio then...

thanks in advance ;)

Depends on your musical needs. Among those three, in my opinion the JB will sound better split, and will be able to do Megadeth better. The Distortion might be Randy Rhoads (i hate spelling sometimes) bridge choice, but I don't like how it sounds clean. The Custom, however, is supposedly much better for drop tunings and nu-metal than the JB. However, remember, I only have experience with the JB. I love how it sounds, split as well.

thanks a lot for the info again...

i don´t really care a lot about split sounds nor clean sounds in bridge pups... that being said i love the jb also, but on mahogany and alder guitars... i had a jb/jazz set on my first axe, an ibanez js100 and i can´t really compare now cause by the time the pups really improve the sound but i don´t know how could the axe sound with another set... but i am looking something close to the sound of a jb in mahogany or alder for basswood on a 7 string axe...

btw thanks lew for the ordering and shipping info... i´m talking about you here (friends and forums at spain), its good to find someone who is really a pro and cares about the business, what it seems that doesn´t happen on my country about music/instruments a lot...
