JB + Evolution Neck - Do I Have To Invert The Polarity?

Hey there, how's it going? I have a newbie question: If i combine these two different brands pickups, do i have to invert the polarity of the DiMarzio neck pickup and install it upside down?

I remember someone telling me, here or elsewhere, that sometimes when combining different brands you have to invert the polarity of one for the other to achieve full output power or something like that.

Sorry if it's nonsense, but i had to check, for i am considering installing these in my guitar.

No. The phase has not been inverted in any of the DiMarzio humbuckers I've matched with Duncan in the past.

That would make a cool combo as well!

Oh, thanks for the reply! I'm glad to hear it hasn't. I wanted a Jazz or 59 for the neck, but it costs almost a whole minimum wage here in Brazil at the moment, so i'm going with the JB + Evolution Neck. Can't wait to take off the EMGs that are on it now, i find the passive tone superior. Cheers!

Yeah, i like it too. Don't know how it will sound matched with the JB but, let's try it. I'll save for another Duncan in the future, and i mostly by far use only the bridge either way.

I'd much rather have the Evo Neck than a Jazz or '59, personally.

I think it will match well. Both pickups are high-mid focused. The Evo Neck is surprisingly, not all that hot for a ceramic. The JB is pretty hot for an Alnico. I'm sure they will match perfectly.

One of my favorite pickup combos is a dimarzio super distortion bridge and duncan 59 neck.

for the 4-conductor cable versions, the color coding is different between dimarzio and duncan. You don’t have to do anything other than pay attention to the color coding.
