Not to trample on anyones preferences, but I heard so much about the JB being icepick, too bright, lacking bass and needing 250k pots to tame it, but when I installed mine, I actually found it to be warm sounding!! I needed to radically alter the EQ settings on my amp to get it to sound right, and that meant adding more treble and cutting back on the bass!! This is a PRS Custom 22 Mahogany/Maple top BTW, so again.....maybe it all depends on the guitar.

In mahogany with or without a maple cap, it's warm as mentioned. The maple cap just brightens things up a bit, but very little. Fingerboard wood changes the tone too. Rosewood will be warmer than maple. Set neck vs. bolt on vs. neck through. There's lots of factors.
