JB in Telecaster = no "twang"?

If I put a JB in a (mex) telecaster will that take away from the twang? Or the will the twang still be there, but more subtle?

Also, would a JB Jr. do the job if I decide to go this route? or are those only for Strat type guitars?

thanks for the look, help, info.

Re: JB in Telecaster = no "twang"?

If you keep it set low you can still get some twang. The JB in a Tele actually has a Tele vibe to it due to the brightness of the pickup. I used a JB in my Tele for years but recently changed to a 59b to get a more balanced vintage sound. With a set of 59's my Tele can cover alot of different styles!

Re: JB in Telecaster = no "twang"?

can the '59 do "heavier" modern rock tones? I had one in my strat and wasn't too impressed with it. The fact is, I barely played the guitar, so I really don't have a great idea of what the pickup sounds like.

The 59b can do anything. It is alot warmer then a JB which can be very bright with the wrong guitar. The 59's are perfect for anything from jazz to metal and don't overload yor preamp the way a high gain pickup will.

Thanks saladin!

I hate to bump and resurrect, but...

*resurrect*

*bump*

anybody else have any thoughts on this? I know you're thinking "sh*t, another JB question!" but, c'mon, I need to decide if I value the twang enough or if it's just a novelty I can get rid of!
