JB in the bridge of my Fat Strat

Hey guys
I have a Fat Strat Alder with rosewood, with a 59 in the neck and currently a C8 in the bridge. I really want to like the Custom 8. I fell in love with it at first but it doesn't match my other guitars with my amp. Its a bit to "boomy" I wish it would be less bassy with more high mids to cut through a bit. I've tried all the magnet swaps. I guess the CC is the closest to what I want but not quite there. Would the JB be what Im looking for? I hear it has a "mid spike" that drives people crazy but that might be what Im looking for? I heard bad things about the Tone Zone but it is perfect in my mohoghany body ebony fretboard guitar. Any thoughts are welcome
thanks in advance.

That's the combination that brought us the 80's and seymour duncan to where he is right now!

Strat + JB = win!

Thanks guys I have this feeling Im gonna like it just was looking for reassurance.

Re: JB in the bridge of my Fat Strat

I just ordered the JB. What would the difference be in tone if I swapped to an A8 from A5?

Re: JB in the bridge of my Fat Strat

I had a similar guitar with a stock JB and thought it was too bright. The A8 will reduce that brightness and give it an overall richness it lacks. But don't take that to mean it will sound flat or inarticulate. It will retain those aspects but will roll off some of the brightness that some people (including myself) dislike.

+1. The JB2 is a little warmer than the JB8, so it's another viable option, depending on how the JB reacts in your wood.

Re: JB in the bridge of my Fat Strat

Thanks guy, Im gonna give the A5 a shot first, if its too shrill go A8 then A2 and so on until Im throwin refridgerator magnets in that bad boy. Haha.
Let the search continue.

A fine choice! ... I have a JB5 and its wonderful in a strat. See the dookie era of Green Day for good punk examples of what it can do. =]

Re: JB in the bridge of my Fat Strat

Thanks guys. I got it in last night, the pickup that is, and it is just the improvement I needed over all the Customs I tried for what I'm doing. IT sounds great!!
Im keeping the A5 in there. Its very bright and present yet full. Perfect!!
