JB j 8 vs Custom 8 - Gibson V

Hello!
What would you guys recommend for metal I`m either going for a JB J or Custom, with alnico 8. D tuning.
I like punchy mids with lots of attack and definition.
What would the tonal differences be in a Gibson Flying V ?
