JB jr. in the neck position?

I got a Strat with a JB jr. in the bridge position. I know that a bridge pickup is hotter than a neck pickup, but would it be possible to put the bridge pickup in the neck position, and a more powerfull fullsize humbucker in the bridge?

If so what would you recomend?

Re: JB jr. in the neck position?

Yes---that would work. BUT, the bridge model JB jr. will be pretty muddy in the neck position (trust me, I've tried it). If you want a little more output from the neck position, you might want to try a bridge-model Little 59. It is hotter than a neck JB jr, but not as hot as a bridge JB jr.

Re: JB jr. in the neck position?

I use a bridge cool rail in the neck, with a jb in the bridge in my charvel and they work great together.
Alltough i used to have a regular full size jb in the neck of my jackson, with a super distortion bridge.
Sounded pretty huge, it can be muddy, but for a super fat lead tone, it´s great (the jb that is, i got tired of the super dist).
I do prefer the jb bridge/bridge version 59 neck in there now though i must say.

Hope this helps some at least.

String Machine, What do you have in the neck and middle now of your strat? Stock SC's?
From what I've seen discussed and Lil' 59 neck with a JB jr left in the bridge would be great really rock. or cool rails neck and middle. Any way you go would give you a sweet, rocking strat!

You probably don't have room for a HB. But, I've heard more than one player say that the Custom Custom rocks a strat bridge! FWIW

Hi there GuitarToad.

well, I was hoping to use the JB jr. as a neck, with a fullsize 'bucker in the bridge, but I think I'll just sell the JB jr. and buy a fullsize JB for the bridge with duckbuckers in teh middle and neck positions.

I don't have any experience with the SD humbuckers but I saw this and thought I'd bring it backup for you. Hopefully you will get more responses.

Dude, you have some sweet amps and cabinets! Are you a famous rocker in Norway? But, then again I've heard the standard of living there is one of the worlds highest and you are reaping the benefits.

If I were putting a HB in a strat I would choose the Custom Custom. Put a couple pedals after it and you could get as hard and heavy as you want. DuckBuckers get good reviews they would probably work out great.

A full size JB would also be great.

I think you're in a win/win situation. Whatever you choose, you can make it work. It'll rock.

Can't wait to see what others suggest and what you go with.
