JB jr pairing?

Re: JB jr pairing?

What guitar / what tone are you after? Do you want more humbucking action, or is this an HSS type of deal?

I'm guessing were talking about an HSS strat. Just a guess.

If that's the case, I'd go with SSL-6s. They're outstanding IMO. They're the tone I think of when I think of a strat, but they're wound hot enough to keep up with a humbucker

Re: JB jr pairing?

i was asking the op but ewww lol im not a fan of 1meg pots most of the time. lets the harsh high end i dont want to hear come through most of the time. i do like the ssl6 in the neck and middle with 500k pots though

I definitely hear you on that
I just don't keep my tone control at 10. If I want the extra treble, its there. If I don't need it, a flick of the pinky and my 1M pot becomes 500k
I definitely likely fiddling with my knobs more than most players do though, and I feel weird playing someone else's guitars, guitars that don't have all of my tone shapers onboard

Re: JB jr pairing?

@jeremy not sure on the pots. Should I go 500k with the Jr? It is going in an EJ Strat. Gary Moore to SRV and KWS blues. I was looking at the area 67 or 58 in the middle but?

Re: JB jr pairing?

I'd say 500k or 250k for the JB Jr. A good combo is the STK-S4 in the neck and middle...which remains hum-cancelling. You can go with a higher output pickup in the neck, too, like a Little 59. But the STK-S4 would still be great for the middle.
