Jb Jr vs Hot Rails Demo

Hello, great forum, I come here all the time for my pickup questions and needs. I've been browsing for a while, but decided to sign up after buying my Hot Rails pickup, I'm quite impressed with it. I had a JB Jr in my strat for a while, but wanted more of a true a humbucker sound without having to hack up my guitar or pickguard. I bought the Hot Rails after reading all the info i could on these forums. Anyways, I thought someone might appreciate a video demo comparison I did, it's not too long, but it should help someone out in trying to figure out the difference in tone from these 2 high output pickups:

The Hot Rail sounds a lot hotter- BUT- the guitar is a little flatter (in pitch) when the Hot Rails are demo-d.

Might that mean the amp was slightly different settings?

Either way, I like the JB a little better because it actually has qualities of both single coil and humbucker.
But if you want more a solid thick humbucker sound, then the Hot Rial is more appropriate.

If you want something with more beef than the JB JR, but better clarity than a hotrails try a Dimarzio Fastrack II.

Yes, good ear. I turned up by ear when I installed the pickup . My ear isn't as good as I think, haha. Same amp, same settings.

Too bad they didn't compare a Cool Rails bridge. It's an often overlooked pup. One of my favorites.

Nice video for sure, the JB Jr seems to be more on the single coil side when on cleaner tones, but as the distortion kicks in it sounds more like a humbucker.

Absolutely! I just recently put one in the bridge of one of my Strats. Extremely nice tone, pretty high output, but very nice clarity. A really great sounding pup IMHO.
