Hey folks,
I'm definitely going to send my SCN's packing. The SCN's in my strat just simply blow. There's really no other way to describe them. Very muddy, and I'm sick of the mud.
So I've got two basic options...a 59 or a JB. I had a JB in an ibanez RG back in the 80s and I flippin loved the thing. However, Im not just playing **** rock anymore...These days, in addition to the 80s rock, I play alot of blues, older classic rock, country, etc.
Back in the 80s, the JB gave me what I considered my holy grail of 80s tone, which was early Vito Bratta/EVH tone. I know both pickups (59 & JB) are capable of this tone, as Vito used both pups.
Here's the question. Does the JB have limitation when you want to drop back and do blues and country? Should I consider the 59, because of that?
Finally, suggest me some great single coil pups to go in the middle/neck. I want quack-city as well as great single coil neck lead tones. For these pickups, I'm not wedded to SD...so other suggestions are cool as well....but I'll certainly entertain SD suggestions...
Thanks guys! I appreciate any help you guys can offer!
