JB Pup-Can you also sing through it?

It's been some time since i wrote. Thanks for your guidance in choice of pup. I decided to buy a JB-sh4 and installed it myself in my Ibanez SZ-320. Now to the question: when I you use a hi-gain distortion setting on my amp, it is actually possible to speak or sing through my JB pup, that is it captures a lot of ambience. Is that normal?

Or have I done something wrong in my installation?

Other than that the JB rocks, really nice in the mid-tone area that I dig so much.

With strong/good pups that happens. My dad has a 69 LP with minis and you can yell into it and here it through his twin.
