Jb/sentient? Has anyone tried this combo?

I have a prs se 245 that I'm having issues finding the right pups for. The original bRidge pup didn't have enough output for my tastes and it lacked the punch in the face I like from my bridge pickup. The neck pickup I completely hate. It seems woofy and dull no matter the pickup height. I swapped the bridge out to a super distortion and although it's a great pickup it still just wasn't what I was after. I love the sound of my ESP with a jb in the bridge so I have one on the way for the prs. ( ESP is an eclipse with same woods and scale length). In comparison (not plugged in) the prs seems to be a little darker tone wise. Which could explain why the neck pup sounds so woofy. I've considered a 59n but I feel that's gonna be too dark and boomy for this guitar. I've also considered a jazz pup. My thoughts are this... what about a sentient? Has anyone tried this combo?

I play in a cover band that does classic/hard rock. Everything from Tom petty to Fleetwood Mac to halestorm and the pretty reckless. I play through a solid state Randall as my main distortion. My only pedals are chorus, flange, a Rams head muff and a wah. Would a sentient fit my needs?

I've never swapped mags before but I'm
Willing to give it a try. I'm not sure what mag comes in the stock prs se pups. Anyone know?

the Sentient is a great compromise between the 59 and Jazz. I think it is a great choice.

Thanks mincer! I'm hoping this solves the issue I've been having. From all the vids I can find it's a great sounding pup. Cosmetically it's gonna be mismatched but idc lol.

I'd lean towards the Jazz. I have a 24 fret Carvin that i thought a Jazz would be too shrill for so i put a Sentient. Sounded too wooly, but then i realized it was because my Carvin was a 25inch scale guitar, not a 25.5 one. I should've picked the Jazz. To my ears the Sentient seems to have a lil more mids than either the 59 or the Jazz, but as much bass as the 59.

On the other hand, a Jazz nearly always sounds better in darker sounding guitars. If the Jazz sounds too dark, then you have a problem - it's one f the glassiest and trebliest neck pups around.

My two cents.

I have a Sentient on the way, and plan on pairing it with a DD. I use a 59n in an EC 400VF, and was having problems with woofy bass. Lowering the pickup on the wound side and raising the poles has it right about where I need it, but it may not work if your PRS is darker than the EC. I'll probably try an A4 in it at some point, but for now it gets the job done. I may try the Sentient in my EC and see what happens. The 59n may end up pairing better with my DD.

Does anyone have thoughts on putting an A2 in the Sentient?

I installed them
Today but I didn't get a lot of time to play. Plus I only have my tiny practice amp here at home. I'll be able to truly tell on Sunday during rehearsal

You can order them matched, if you like. They would fall under the Shop Floor Custom program.

EDIT: I see you got them!
Let us know how they sound in a few days!
