JB vs 59/Custom Hybrid vs Perpetual Burn

I liked both Carcass' and ATG's recent comeback records, personally.

The Halo Effect is all ex-In Flames members with Mikael from Dark Tranquillity. Check it out if you like 90's In Flames. They sound more like In Flames than In Flames do nowadays.

Thanks. I will.

I feel the same way when I hear a pickup described as “scooped”. I personally like a pickup that has mids. For me the JB is a bit much in the mids, probably just the particular frequencies it accentuates.
I love the Custom Custom in my LP and the mids it brings are perfect for me.

The Custom 5, Custom Custom and the 59/Hybrid seem all to be solid choices for that type of guitar. I am even considering 59 bridge for a more vintage vibe.

I had a lil 59 in a Tele a while back. Even though I never gelled with that guitar the pickup sounded fantastic.

I personally like a little bit of pickup compression but I’m not sure exactly what the humbucker version of the 59 will give in that dept.

Not very much, since it's a vintage output pickup. But I think I would rather let pedals, and volume, take care of that.

Would not discount the Burn as like them much better than the Custom winds or the Hybrid. I actual have swapped a Hybrid for a Perpetual bur twice in guitars. I like the Hybrid in the right guitar. However they can be rather rude in the mid punch and also flat do not clean up or split well in comparison to a Burn. The Burn is big articulate and very balanced. By far has a much better clean tone and splits very well in particular with a single coil. This in particular surprised me as swapped a Burn for a Hybrid a H/S/S guitar thinking it would balance better with the singles and split better with the single it didn't. I played one show with the Hybrid and then swapped it right back for the Burn.

Ah, the Swedish sound. Or should I say the Stockholm buzzsaw sound by stacking a Boss DS1 into a Boss HM2, into a clean Peavey solid state amp. The trademark sound of Entombed. One of the guitarists used an Ibanez Xyphos with EMGs. The other a Gibson Flying V. Not sure about the pickups, but probably stock.

Just a HM2 into a Peavey Bandit. And the Ibanez Xyphos model didn't exist before 2007, much later than LHP.
