Jb vs. Full shred

Re: Jb vs. Full shred

I've owned a few guitars with a JB in the bridge and never really cared for it. Too much low end and too smooth sounding. Not aggressive enough.
I recently replaced the JB in my Hamer Studio with a 59 Bridge and it's exactly what I was looking for.

I have a Full Shred in the Bridge of my Carvin and it's a good PU but doesn't have as much aggressive bite as the 59. It sounds really good in split coil mode also. The Full Shred is a little on the bright side so it may be what you're looking for but if you really want some bite & Harmonics you may want the 59.
I play classic rock style.

Here's a link to a low quality video of my Carvin with the FS:

Re: Jb vs. Full shred

I tried the '59 before, but for me, the jb is more agressive, better harmonics, more punch.

I decided to buy the jb/jazz set. I found 2 sets on eBay for quite cheap, and I also bought à set of suhr aldrich pickups. The jb has enough mids to cut through, but isvoiced in such à way that its not 'nasal'.
