JB vs Gravity Storm

I'd be interested as well.

Have you looked into the Breed, CarlosG? That one is 16K and Alnico 5 as well. I was interested in those before I got my Aldrich and my SSH+ since I'm a huge fan of the JB as well.

What would you be looking for out of a double screw setup? I like my double screw pickups but the difference you get with the second coil adjustments is pretty subtle. You could make a hybrid double screw JB if you really want that.

When you play on the clean channel, or turn the volume knob down on the overdrive, you can clearly hear that the D string is the quietest and the G string is the loudest.
having one row of adjustable ones, it seems to me that lifting one while the other (slug) is in place changes the sound (as opposed to two adjustable ones), also when split the slugs are still flat so the volume imbalance is still there.
The slug can also be pushed out, I did it, I also do it in singles that are in plastic cylinders, but it's a lot of work unlike two adjustable rows.

Thanks. I never thought about it. I'll check it out.
The Suhr DSH+ is also a JB-ish wind with a double row of adjustable polepieces. Although the Suhr pickups aren't quite JB... but neither is the Breed or Gravity Storm either way.

You can get the AH Metal Fatigue. Not sure if it's still available through the Duncan CS. It's a JB with a double row of screws.

Oh, coil splitting, that makes sense. I know what you mean; this is how I wind up adjusting pretty much all of my pickups to compensate for the output difference between 3rd and 4th string. I like my bridge side pole pieces up pretty high. It's more extreme on this pickup because it sounds pretty dark and I'm trying to get more edge out of it. I have the second row of pole pieces raised underneath the plain strings to make them sound a little fatter, and I do hear a difference that I like, but it's pretty subtle. I could be just fine with one row of screws. But I also don't use split coil sounds.
