JB vs. Pearly Gates

I've had a JB in my guitar for a couple months now and still heavy-sigh concerning it's tone. To my ear, the thing sounds too creamy and mid-heavy. I want crisper mids and a little more high end. Would a Pearly Gates be the answer to my conundrum? :scratchch

never heard the JB described as "creamy." Do you know what wood your guitar is made of? does it have a tremolo or a stoptail?

Yes. I ran into the same thing in my LP a while ago. The PGb fixed that right up.

I had a PG in an alder Strat early this year. Put a JB in the same guitar and while it was cool for 80s metal like Ratt and Dokken the JB just lacked low end that i couldn`t dial in thru my amp or various pedals. I put the PG back in after about a week. The JB to my ears sounded brighter than the PG

Lol we have opposite problems! I am getting too much crisp and not enough cream. Read ice pick thread. Before u go swappin the jb do u use 500k volume pots? And if u have a tone pot disconnect it. That should get the jb crisper? good luck

Wow. I guess I'll just have to take the plunge and install the PG, but hang on to the JB just in case. I'll ask my repairman about the pots.
