JB w/500k volume and 250k tone pots?

I'm putting a set of chrome covered JB/59 pickups in a Strat copy soon. the guitar has a mahogany body and maple neck/fretboard. I want the higher output of the JB in the bridge, but don't want it to be too bright so I was thinking of using a 500k master volume, then a 500k tone for the 59 and a 250k tone for the JB to maybe help tame the highs a little. I'm hoping that will help. Any thoughts?

That should work well. I'm a fan of all those pickups. I have 500k vol and tone on my JB strat but I used an A4 to mellow out the JB and that worked.

Alternatively you can put a 510k resistor in parallel with the JB and use a 500k tone pot or even 1M so that you can still open it up by turning it above 8.

I like the JB with an A2. I haven't tried an A4, though I can imagine it keeping the JB more stiff.

That's what Jackson USA does. At least that's how my SL1 was setup from the factory. It works fine.

But with a fresh rewire, I'd probably start with 500k tone and see how it works. If you find yourself always rolling the tone back a couple ticks, then you could throw in a 250k. That will give the exact same sound as a 500k rolled back to 250k and also give you a more useable taper for the tone.

Along with trying a JB with the 250k tone pot I'm also having the magnet changed to an A2. Should be interesting.

FWIW, I was using 500k pots with a JB2. I don't recommend 250k for either the volume or the tone in that situation.
