I've looked at the EQ for the JB and I've listened to Megadeth, and I've realized that I don't really like the tone of the JB. It's supposed to be Duncan's most popular pickup, but I think the Custom (all three of them) sound a whole lot better. The JB just has too much treble. I didn't like my JB Jr's either. Anyone else understand what I'm saying?

I had a problem with the JB being almost too dark :blackeye:

It's why I got rid of my JB. I had it in an alder Tele and was always having to adjust my tone knob.

Yeah. Didn't like the JB Jr's in my alder strat. Bright wood+bright pickup=disaster, I think. It'd probably sound better in a Les Paul.

yes, i wanted to put a JB into my ash tele, only having to remove it and replace it with the custom custom instead

The darkness of mahogany really helps the JB IMO, it gives it more body. I did like it in alder, but I think mahogany allows you to use a higher value pot.

To Bolesaw, what value pots were you using? Maybe you should use a lower value.
