JCM 600 users (current and old)

Re: JCM 600 users (current and old)

hi, i just wanted to ask if there can go something wrong if connecting the parallel loop's input and output on my JCM 600 with a patch cable and using it as an additional gain stage. Is there also a difference if using a shorter or longer cable? and also, i checked out the tubes in mine...the power amp tubes are two JJ's and in the preamp i noticed fender tubes....if you have any suggestions to make my amp even more "marshally" with retubing i'd be happy getting some advice. thanks, bye

Re: JCM 600 users (current and old)

You won't have any issues using the parallel loop the way we have talked about in this thread.

As for tubes, JJ's are very decent tubes, and they have a bunch of different versions for less or more gain. However, the best tubes I've found for my Marshall JCM 800 (pre amp tubes) are the new Groove Tubes "C" and "M". The "M" is their Mullard reissue, which is very nice. The "C" is the Chinese 9th generation, and it has a bit more gain and treble response than the M, which is a little warmer. I use a combo of the C and M in my Marshall.

Tung Sol also makes a damn good pre-amp tubs, and the Sovtek LPS. The nice thing about pre amp tubes is they aren't overly expensive. I'd spend $100 and get 5-6 different ones, and just try them out...swapping them in and out of different spots until you find what you like best.

The C's and the M's will definately make it more Marshally.

The best tube combination I found in my 600 was all JJ's in the preamp and Svetlana EL34's for power.
