JCM 800 tone w/ good cleans

My flatmate recently bought a JCM800 Slash signature head and, played with an SD-1, I must say I've fallen in love. Amazing rock tone, very Zakk Wylde. I looked on Marshall's website and they've reissued the original series (1 channel/100w). Now I love the original souped up Marshall tone, and the JCM800 seems to fit the bill, but does anyone know of an amp similar to THAT tone with a decent clean channel (Fenderish) with reverb?

Haha, I suppose if anyone knew that would be the holy grail of amps - Fender cleans and Marshall distortion. But out of the more boutique stuff, has anyone actually captured it? Rivera? Budda?

...yes!.... :) How much would you be willing to spend, how quick do you want it, and would you like a money back guarantee insuring it meets your requirements??... I just happen to know someone who makes exactly what you're asking about....

Jeff Seal can do it, I'm sure.

Paul Rivera can do it. 800, modded 800. BF. Bassman/JTM. All in one amp. Not 100% exact, but, he's got it 90+ percent. Best money I ever spent on an amp.

EDIT: The 2203 reissue and the Slash sig head are diff sounding amps. The Slash is a Jubilee head, which I *personally* think are not as nice sounding as a goosed 2203, but alot folks like the Jubilees (I certainly wouldn't mind having one, but it wouldn't be my first choice in a Marshall)

Thanks for that. I was talking with my flatmate last night and he told me the same thing. He had a JCM800 before and now the Slash head - I have heard clips of a JCM800 before, but the Slash head blew me away. Amazing dirty tone that just sings when you put an SD1 in front of it.

I looked at the Marshall site and saw that the JCM800 is onyl sold as a single channel head. I like the features of the Slash head (2 channel) but need the ability to channel switch to a good clean. That's the problem I had with the 5150 - great dirty, but as soon as you switch to Channel 1 you're automatically letdown. The Slash head as a 50w head with a better clean and a 6 spring reverb would be awesome.

Jeff Seal - what kind of mods/amps do you do? Do you have a site? Money's not a real problem but travel is tho. Being in NZ doesn't help :) That's why I was enquiring about those boutique amps. I know the distributor for Rivera here but haven't had the chance to play the Fandango yet. Heard good reviews tho.

The JCM800 2210/2205/4210/4211 etc. are two channel amps from the factory in the 80's, Marshall chose not to "reissue" these.. :blackeye:

As far as what I personally do, PM me..(I'm not a big fan of "advertising myself" publicly on SD's forum.)... :)
