JCM 900 Which One?

Re: JCM 900 Which One?

What's funny is that I managed to get some pretty killer tone out of a Dual Reverb JCM-900. It had a nice high gain crunch, but wasn't buzzy or harsh like a lot of Mesa's stuff.

A lot of people don't like JCM-900s, but I've always dug them and the bands that used them (Jane's Addiction and The Juliana Theory come to mind).

I will not come off of mine!!!! Its a hell of an amp. Try one out sometime, maybe you will learn all 900's are not the same!

I did`nt say that all jcm 900 sounds simular! what i said was that a jcm 800 would be a better choice.
Let me put it this way:IMO 9 of 10 jcm 800 sounds great (any model) can`t say that about the 900 models. :alcoholic

I still remember when the 800's came out...I did not like those much either;)
Times change, and sounds change....
Then most get used to the change.....and it all turns again....round and round.

Re: JCM 900 Which One?

The only JCM 900 I ever liked was the SL-X.

JCM 900's are known for not sounding the greatest, and breaking down quite a bit. You would be better off with a JCM 800 (2203 or 2204). Heck, I think a newer DSL50 is better than the JCM 900's

I agree, though the Only 900 I ever liked was the 2100 SL MK-III, the forerunner of the SLX.... I think ErikH and Odie have them...

If not i would recommend a jcm 800.:fing2: :butkick:

2100s are as easy to find as water in a Fjord ;)

Wow. Old thread.

Yep, Tim. I still have mine. It needs a new power tranny though. It shorted out last month. It will be fixed at some point though. It's still my favorite 900 out of them all.
