JCM800, 4010 potentiometer

Re: JCM800, 4010 potentiometer

You don't need to desolder the contacts; just re-wet them by touching them with the iron and a little bit of solder if required. The whole process should take a couple of hours in a DSL...max. Just make sure to mark all of the quick connects and take close-up pictures, if necessary, to assure that all of the connects are known.

Hi bro

thanks for the suggestion.
I only re-wet those under the bias pot and afew above it.
To my surprise the amp volume stays after 2 hours of playing.

I think the amp problem is solved. I will still continue to monitor it for the next 3 days.
Thanks alot for the help.

To those who are experiencing the same problem, even after a tube change, prolly do the same to re-wet the soldering points. Check to see if there are also any cold joints on the tube sockets, I found one before.

Sometimes someone will say its the transformer/pot/electrolytic ..etc.. but actually it isn't and in the end took away the vintage and put in a new where the problem actually lies with a cold soldering joint.
Lesson learnt from myself, never send to a tech who claims that it is difficult to solve intermittent problems.
end up losing $200 on invalid repairs and nonsensical reasoning.

Could've gotten a new set of tubes for another amp with that.
