JCM900 + KT77s

Just replaced the old GTEL34s with JJKT77s in my JCM900 4100 model. So...awesome. A little less driving punch but it's compensated with a more chimey, articulate tone. There's also a ton more head room on the clean channel, making it a lot more useful. I'm pretty happy.

I have the 900 50W combo. I like it quite a bit, but the gain is a little harsh in some ways. I use a Bluesbreaker pedal with the clean channel to help give me less aggression with the gain. Works......

I have KT77's in my Komet 60. So far I am really happy as this is by far one of the best amps I have ever played through. I have a new set of Svetlana EL 34's for it, but haven't changed them yet. I have been told that the EL34's will give it a little more headroon & a lot more drive.

I think the KT77s have more headroom but less gain. It cleans up better than an EL34 but doesn't pack the same punch. I'd say so far, I hear a nicer but thinner tone in the KT77s. But when I crank the amp loud, no dissatisfaction whatsoever. I get total tonal versatility on both A and B channels. God, I am really using the A channel on the 900 now with the new tubes -- unbelievable.

Yeah I know what you mean. The A channel if the gain is down to low it gets kind of thin, but once the gain gets up it really has a great clean tone & you can control it with the volume on the guitar. The Drive channel for my taste is a little too gainy. I'm more of a blues player, but I have learned how to dial it in for me.
