Re: Jet City 100 hdm?

I have one. I've had no problems with it. I bought it off of Craigslist about a year ago from a guy. It has plenty of distortion on tap. I really didn't need it at all, but it was too good of a deal to pass up. I really don't know what all to say about it. It's nice to have Presence and Resonance controls on it.

Re: Jet City 100 hdm?

You are the master deal finder!! Have you ever played a Quick rod John? If not, do you own a 5150 of any series?? trying to find a common ground of comparision..

Re: Jet City 100 hdm?

I've never played any Splawn. I own a Block Letter 5150 Stack.

Re: Jet City 100 hdm?

Ive heard those. how would you say the jet city compares?? Im guessing its more midrange and not as thick in the lows? I just worry Im missing something.. haha no place near me stocks any variety of amps to test.. I always lusted for a Soldano slo. I finally stopped cuz I know you have to crank those to get the tone out of them.. plus, Im not player enuff to get the full mojo outta anything.

Re: Jet City 100 hdm?

Adding to this I know Friedman does mods for most of the JC Heads, any of you guys played one?

If it's anything like a louder version of the Picovalve, then I bet it's great!

Re: Jet City 100 hdm?

It's a good amp. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy one unless I got a really good deal on one like I did for $350. There's no way in hell I would spend $700-$900 for one new, or however much they cost. It's not a "dream amp" by any means, but it is a good amp. It is somewhat Marshallish, yet Soldanoish at the same time. It's got plenty of gain on tap. The clean channel is good enough to get by with. I really don't know how to explain the amp. I'm not good at that kind of stuff. It's a great amp, but it's not my Marshall JVM410H or my Series One Blackstar 104EL34 by any means. I would gig and/or record with it if I had to. I've only played it through my Jet City cabs and my Blackstar Vintage 30 cab. I preferred the Vintage 30 cab. I think if I tried out a few different Eminence Speakers with it in my Jet City cabs it would make an amazing diiference. All of the videos of the amp on youtube are a good representation of the amp. If I was forced to sell all of my amps and had to only keep it, I wouldn't be disappointed in having to have it.
