Dude, trust me on this. Forget the LPS in the PI. It drives the power section too hard. Get a JJ 12AU7 for $11, and it will make a giant difference. After many, many combinations of tubes, I found that for current production, the best match for that amp is Tung-Sol in V1, Chinese in V2, and 12AU7 in the PI. It would help to check the bias on the power section as well, which is a cakewalk if you watch the video I linked in the other thread.

Got it for 324 out the door! guy at GC forgot the power cord WTH! used a pc cord 18 G for a few minutes to test it low at the apartment. It sounded kinda thin, so sat i will take my 12G mercury cord over there. 12au7 will keep it thick sounding> check into that thanks. Needs to be open up and cranked bad. So we will see!

I didn't hear any farting even though you said the video had farting in it...tubes can and do go bad in far less than 10 seconds. I blew a set of EL34's in my Blackstar with the flick of a light switch. My 22H's bias pot went bad at 4 months old...and THAT was one fartin machine at that point. It wasn't something that only someone that "knows tone" would notice. The whole world would have noticed had they heard it. Jet City certainly noticed and fixed it.

The amp doesn't sound like crap...maybe *you* think it does but a whole lot of other people disagree. Surely some of them "know tone" too, eh? -Rod-

They ship with some seriously **** tubes. I am running Tung Sol EL84's in my JCA20H and man what an improvement. Popped one of there 12AX7's in V1 as well to sharpen things up a bit.

I run mine through a 4x12 usually so it'll EQ differently but the amp has a lot of very rich mid's and a great top end but could use just a little more bottom. Still it has been bulletproof and it's a real good sounding amp. I use mine all the time with no complaints.

Ok I need to know everybody does speaker pan out pretty good or should I try to get a used one? v30, or a Greenback type?

The amps do come with a variable resistor for fine adjustment if desired, its like a bias knob to make it run a little hotter for a tad more gain

thank man! im sure the speaker will sound nice if i ever break it in:) it was darker sounding with my mesa 112 the stock seems more for it maybe not sure yet

just saw that I have 5 preamp tubes in the amp, some ads said 3 so now i need the layout if anyone has it

The tone makes me want to instantly call my friend and tell him to get new tubes... but I know how broke he is and know that he can't afford a sandwich usually.

NOT a farty sounding amp by any means... EVH requires a fart free tone and you are totally sounding brown as hell bro!!!
