Jet, Jam, Jive, Myth

Anyone knowledgeable on the story behind those names being chosen for the Jaguar, Jazzmaster, Jazz Bass and Mustang Antiquity II Pickups (respectively?) Aside from them being alliterative? Out of curiosity...

Re: Jet, Jam, Jive, Myth

I'd say association with Cool Cars and popular colors of the times, (respectively).

SD web site doesn't refer to them that way, but the sticker on the box has those names. Seems like a marketing idea that didn't really stick, except on the side of the box.

I always associated Jive with 70's Funk (which makes sense as an A5 Jazz Bass), no clue on the rest.

Interesting that everyone refers to the Surfers and Texas Hots, but that's about it.

I'm thinking about the names of the pickups themselves.

There are also slight mentions of those names on the website buried in the descriptions.

Funny that the Telecaster, Gibson Ant IIs (and Duo Sonic) don't have "names."

Re: Jet, Jam, Jive, Myth

To me it looks like a half-hearted attempt to distinguish Ant I and Ant II so people could guess which is better for them by the 'name', but Myth and Jet are a little esoteric. Ant I 'Texas Hot' vs Ant II 'Surfers' for the Strat makes great sense. I guess it's a matter of who is most associated with Jazz/Jag/Mustang playing of the A2 vs A5 variations? The names are too esoteric for me to guess.
