JHS / Vintage / Marquee Club guitars as mod platforms?

I friend and I were talking about these guitars the other week:

https://www.jhs.co.uk/brands/marquee-club

I was surprised that the SG appeared to have a glued-in neck as well as block inlays, so we were wondering about the potential for stripping and refinishing the body and upgrading all the hardware.

I guess that they might be made in the same factory as Vintage guitars, given that they come under the JHS banner, and the headstock shape. They're quite a bit cheaper than the Vintage models, which I'm assuming is down to cheaper hardware (again, assumptions).

Anybody had hands on one of these? My friend was after adding an SG to his collection, thought a project could be fun. Cheers.

They look like they’re the Encore brand guitars which use cheap woods and probably cheaper stuff.
I had an encore Strat many years ago and hated it. Was unplayable.

I have heard they’ve been upgraded since then, but they are proper beginner guitars.
