Jimi Hendrix Signature Vs Psychedelic Strat pickups?

What's the difference?

When the Psychedelic Strat pickups came out, I figured they were intended to get you the Hendrix sound. He is the most well known strat-playing Psychedelic rock guy, no?

But now they have the Jimi Hendrix signature pickups too.

The descriptions are quite similar; both refer to late-60's strats. Both Alnico 5. Both have similar DC resistance (6.07 vs 5.95). The demo of the Psychedelic Strat pickups on the website contains numerous obvious Hendrix licks.

So is it just a case that they made the Psychedelic pickups to get a piece of the Hendrix market without actually acknowledging the Hendrix influence (much as they did with the EVH inspired 'Evenly Voiced Harmonics' pickup (now called the '78)), and then made the official Hendrix set once the Hendrix estate got involved?

The Psychedelic Set is sort of the ideal late 60's Strat pickup. The Hendrix set is an exact replica of pickups Seymour wound for Jimi Hendrix. Both will do Hendrix well...we are talking shades of the same color, here.

I believe the differences are mostly in how they're built. The Hendrix set has the reverse magnet stagger going for it. Both will get you in the ballpark. I had Psychedelics in a strat briefly. Killer set, definitely will get you some Hendrix minus the chops.
